There are two types of Smoke Alarms that we offer, mains powered or a more traditional battery operated version.  Our mains powered models still require a battery but its primary use is as a backup facility in case the electricity supply is cut off. The more traditional Smoke Alarms require the battery to be changed.  The Smoke Alarm will alert you when this is required by omitting a high pitched beeping noise.  No matter which Smoke Alarm you decide on always make sure it displays the British Standard Kite Mark. How many smoke alarms should I have? The minimum requirement is one for every floor however ideally you should have one smoke alarm for every room in your house.  We will always advise you to have one fitted in the bedroom of any young children
